Cornyn Crosses The Aisle To Help Dallas Judge Get Confirmed

Dallas Judge Catharina Haynes' appointment to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, which was listed as a "judicial emergency," has finally been confirmed by the United States Senate.

Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, says she has Senator Cornyn's  bi-partisanship to thank for it.

This is what Senator Leahy said in his floor statement prior to the vote yesterday:

"I want to acknowledge the support of Senator Cornyn and his work with me to schedule her nomination. Senator Cornyn sat down and explained why she was important and brought her to my attention and helped me report it from the Judiciary Committee last week. I imagine Judge Haynes, if confirmed this afternoon, as I expect she will be, her first phone call will probably be to Senator Cornyn to say ‘thank you.'"
