I have been asking, why are we not developing
Hydrogen Energy as a clean alternative fuel???

It seems to me that the United States can throw money every other direction, but at this alternative Hydrogen Energy for fuel.

Great sums of monies have gone to develope the Nuclear Bomb and Getting Into Space when as you know we here on earth need a steady and clean supply of Fuel!

Why are we wasting our time looking for oil, burning oil, and we all know oil is a very limited supply???

When is the U.S. Congress going to take the necessary steps to develope Hydrogen Energy for everyday use???

Thank you for your efforts for the veterans.

What would be wrong with drilling in North Dakota if there is more reserves there than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined?  Give the oil companies incentives so the faster the oil comes on-line the greater the incentive.

We can still develop an alternatice engery source but we have to exist while doing it. Why not keep the trillion dollars a year spent for oil in our country instead of paying it out to someone else?

Give the Environmentalist a dead line for getting their studies done and get on with ANWAR drilling.

There is too much foot dragging  from all agencies that are involved in our energy sector.

Dear Senator Cornyn;
Derivatives are what is driving oil and gasoline prices sky-high without returning one penny to our economy, much as the mortgage derivatives that popped the Housing market.  Something has to stop such pandemic market practices.

A first step would be a commando strike by the SEC that would require a stiff entry fee like something next to 75%. Then Congress requires Commodity traders deliver product instead of paper and money.

"A futures contract gives the holder the obligation to buy or sell, which differs from an options contract, which gives the holder the right, but not the obligation. In other words, the owner of an options contract may exercise the contract, but both parties of a "futures contract" must fulfill the contract on the settlement date. The seller delivers the commodity to the buyer, or, if it is a cash-settled future, then cash is transferred from the futures trader who sustained a loss to the one who made a profit. To exit the commitment prior to the settlement date, the holder of a futures position has to offset their position by either selling a long position or buying back a short position, effectively closing out the futures position and its contract obligations."

As you can see all that is being done on most futures trades is derivatives and not an obligation to deliver oil or gasoline, and these trades cheats our economy and let the confidence gamblers satisfy their egomania ends.  It is a false premise that any of this type of market swindle is the way the market system is believed to work.

None of what was suggested provides the relief that the economy needs now.  All of those proposals don't even start to help for 5 to 10 years. Technology is there today that would allow burning HHO (a byproduct of water) in our cars. Unfortunately the folks in the EPA have regulations that prevent this technology from being retrofitted to all of the non-hybrid cars. The increased prices of fuel are driving up the cost of everything. Farmers/ranchers now pay twice as much for fuel as they did last year at this time.  Truckers are hit the same way. All of theses fuel costs keep on being passed on to the consumer.  Lift some of the stupid regulations so that vehicles that currently get 14MPG can get up to 28 MPG.  This will also create an aftermarket business that will employ people.  That takes immediate effect. We will get relief and other sources of fuel can be developed while working people (not lawyers) get a break.

We can improve the situation by a two-fold approach of increasing supplies and improving the strength of our currency so that the dollar has stronger buying power.  We should:

1. Open up all offshore areas and ANWAR to drilling.  Not only will this provide increased secure supplies of oil and natural gas (when natural gas is in short supply, the cost of electricity goes up due to significant use of natural gas in electric generation), but the federal government will receive significant increased royalty and tax revenues from oil and gas production, which will help reduce the deficit.

2. Strengthen the dollar.  Our currency is weaker than it was last year, so it takes more dollars to exchange for the same barrel of oil.  The increase in oil price seen this year over the price per barrel seen last year reflects, in part, the decline in the value of the dollar seen over the same period.

We really need to pull out all stops and get behind producing more oil in the US, we are sending too much of our discretionary dollar out of the country.  When you consider that something close to 60% of the crude we use in the US is purchased outside the US, at $100 plus per barrell, we are enabling other countries to harvest money from the US as if we were a cash cow!

We really need to get behind the drilling in ANWR and also closer in with off shore drilling.

I'm 100% behind using our own oil and cutting off the Middle East ENTIRELY. Quit giving money to terrorists who hate us. Let them see what it is like for THEIR economy to suffer for a change.

 Drill Alaska

Drill the Gulf

Turn the Shale to Oil

Make the Coal Liquid like Africa does

Give the money to AMERICAN land-owners instead of ARAB SHIEKS with attitude.

Congress needs to speak up for AMERICANS or the "Great Depression" is going to look like a fun day in the park compared to what is coming.

I went to a spot on Route 66 the other day that is about to close down because there are NO TOURISTS on the road any more. People can not afford to travel. Our businesses are shutting down because of gas prices. Restaurants are shutting down. Hotels and gas stations are shutting down. Grocery prices are insane.

Americans need relief - and why not give the money to us instead of those who hate us? It is about time that Congress and the White House stood for the people again - and not the gas companies and lobbies.

We don't want ethanol. We want real answers. American natural resources... Coal, Shale, Oil. We have it - let's use it!

I think that the Senator makes some fantastic points but I'd like to learn more about the ecological effects of drilling in ANWAR.

I would like to have the government to take alook at the profits the oil companies are now making.  I keep hearing that it is because of the cost of oil.  The prices are changing too fast and at a great rate. If in fact they are doing something illegal then some kind of fine!
