Regarding Obamacare...
July 17, 2012
Americans across the country are struggling during these tough economic times, and what is Obama's answer? One of the biggest tax increases in our history. Obamacare crushes American prosperity with 20 new taxes and tax increases that stifle innovation and burden American families.
Despite President Obama's claims that those who like their insurance can keep it, Obamacare imposes a 40% tax on premium healthcare plans. This new tax will make it more expensive for middle-class workers to keep the insurance they have today.
Texans and Americans should have the freedom to choose the healthcare plan that's best for their families without fear of more government taxes and penalties.
Others will be forced to choose between paying a tax or purchasing Obama-approved insurance policies that will often include unnecessary and expensive services. These are just two examples of the 20 new tax increases that will take more than half a trillion dollars from hardworking Americans and small businesses over the next ten years.
But even with revenue from one of the greatest tax hikes in American history, the nonpartisan CBO estimates that the insurance provisions of Obamacare will cost $1.1 trillion, further jeopardizing our own future and that of our children.
Increasing taxes, increasing debt, and increasing regulations will damage our economy, discourage innovation, and destroy jobs. But the effects of Obamacare don't stop there. Dr. Michael Speer, President of the Texas Medical Association, warns that the effects are no less severe for physicians and their medical practices.
Eighty-three percent of doctors have contemplated retiring due to the burdens of Obamacare, and the American Association of Medical Colleges projects that Americans will face a doctor shortage of 124,000 by 2025.
Overwhelmingly, Texans and Americans agree that Obamacare MUST BE REPEALED.
