Sen. John Cornyn, Mayor Mike Rawlings hand out warmth to Dallas’ homeless

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn and Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings handed out blankets, socks, sweatshirts and other clothing items to the homeless on Tuesday at The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center. Their visit was to highlight the inaugural “Bundle Up at the Bridge” clothing drive.

Before volunteering, Cornyn took a tour of The Bridge to learn how it operates.

The Bridge had several hundred items to give to the homeless people in attendance in an effort to help them stay warm as the temperatures begin to drop. Cornyn and Rawlings shook hands as they gave the clothing items and blankets to the clients who came through the line with appreciation for the new items.

“Right now I have nothing,” Jones said. “It’s not just the clothing itself, but the thought behind it that is the most important part.”
