Since his days as a district court judge, state Supreme Court justice, and Texas Attorney General, U.S. Senator John Cornyn has always worked to bring justice to survivors and victims families. Passing the Debbie Smith Reauthorization Act dedicated more resources to state and local law enforcement agencies to help conduct forensic analyses of crime scenes and process untested rape kits.

Additionally, Senator Cornyn sponsored the Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence Reporting (SAFER) Act to further resolve laboratory and storage rape kit backlogs by providing funding to conduct one-year audits of the untested sexual assault evidence in their possession. And his Justice Served Act funds the prosecution of cold cases solved by DNA evidence found in backlogged rape cases.
